T

his Yoga Hour conversation between

Rev. O’Brian and Sally Kempton

explores how to bring more vitality to

our practice.

Rev. O’Brian:

Why are people drawn to medita-

tion? What is it we really want?

Sally Kempton:

The human organism has a

natural pull towards meditation. Many of us

experience this during the day, and it has to do

with the natural rest/activity cycle in the human

system. Most people, after around ninety

minutes of activity, experience a feeling some-

thing like sleepiness, a kind of inner draw. At

this point, people often think they need a cup

of coffee or stimulation. But actually, the system

is asking us to literally turn our attention inside,

away from the activity of the mind and take rest

in Spirit.
