and a silver-white light in a field of 

blue. Gold color is said to represent 

the energy-frequency of Om; dark 

blue, the frequency of all-pervading 

Consciousness within creation; the 

white, star-like light is of Conscious-

ness beyond relative phenomena. 

Sanskrit ajna: command or control; 

decisive power of will.

 Seventh chakra, related, but not 

confined, to the higher brain. 

Related to pure consciousness, tran-

scendence of mental and physical 

states and all conditions that modify 

or distort awareness. Sanskrit sahas-

rara, “thousand rayed.”

As the nervous system becomes 

refined and the capacities of the brain 

become fully developed, mental abili-

ties improve, intellectual powers are 

enhanced, and spiritual growth occurs 

spontaneously. Since your conscious-

ness is processed through your brain 

and nervous system while you are 

incarnated, do all that you can to be as 

healthy and functional as possible.

In the kriya yoga tradition which I 

represent, it is said that the capacity of 

the brain to process cosmic conscious 

states is naturally increased by disease-

less living, psychological well-being, 

good nutrition, fresh air, sunlight, and 

wholesome environmental conditions. 

Aspiration to be spiritually awake 

that is supported by attentive super-

conscious meditation practice refines 

the nervous system and improves the 

brain’s capacities to process refined 

states of consciousness. Instead of 

experiencing gradual transformative 

changes in the course of time, it is 

possible, with concentrated practice, to 

accomplish in a few years what might 

otherwise require many decades of 

ordinary physical evolution.
