ecause the
universe is a
manifestation of
interactions of
cosmic essences and forces emanated
from God, there is nothing that can
separate us from God. Because the
amount of energy in the universe
remains the same and is constantly
changing from one form to another,
there cannot be any lack in the
universe.
Spiritual growth is in direct propor-
tion to our ability to accept the good
fortune that life can provide. During
the past fifty years, during which I
have met many thousands of people,
I have never known of anyone with a
habitual poverty consciousness who
experienced an obvious degree of
spiritual growth. I have known many
such people who were pleasant, kind,
and well-intentioned, and some who
were able to generate a pleasant mood
when praying or meditating. But real
spiritual growth? No.
There are also many people who
have good health, comfortable circum-
stances, and an abundance of material
goods who have not yet experienced
authentic spiritual growth. What
prevents it is often more obvious:
disinterest; egotism; pride of accom-
plishment; a rigid mental attitude;
or tenacious mental and emotional
attachment to their personality traits,
status, relationships, or possessions.
It is not necessary, nor is it wise or
practical, to renounce money, other
useful material things, and meaningful
relationships in order to be spiritually
awake. What is needed is renunciation
of mental and emotional attachment
to things, concepts, feelings, behav-
iors, and relationships that are not of
real value. Attachments keep atten-
tion, thoughts, and emotions fixated
and confined. Detachment, along
with insightful understanding, allows
awareness to expand to include every-
thing that has real value and to discard
nonessentials.
Learn To Attract, Have and
Wisely Manage Money and Other
Necessary Resources
Many devotees of God who are
healthy, well-educated, skillful, and
have harmonious personal relation-
ships, have difficulty having enough
money to allow them to do the things
they would like to do. They are not
able to earn or attract surplus money
or do not know how to manage it
wisely when they have it. In most soci-
eties, because money is the commonly
used medium of exchange for goods
and services, it is necessary to have
and use.
If you have difficulty relating to
or managing money, examine your
